global players
To highlight Nedscaper's unique entrepreneurial story, founder and CEO Thomas Verwer was invited to join the radio program Global players on BNR. Thomas is no stranger to sharing Nedscaper's success story and is an expert in public speaking. But because World Players is a live radio segment, he wanted to prepare for the uncertainties that this entails. For example, what do you say when asked about geopolitical tensions or another sensitive topic that is not related to your message? To anticipate this, Thomas contacted nxt agency.
media training
Nedscaper and nxt are no strangers. Previously, nxt agency helped them with two pr projects. As a result, Thomas immediately knew who to go to for a media training that would prepare him for the 'what ifs' of live radio. In addition, he wanted tips on how to build his story and advice on how to get the key message across as clearly as possible. Because if you thought leader are in the cybersecurity industry, you want to share that effectively!
During the training, Thomas and Remi anticipated possible questions that Thomas would rather avoid. “When I came out of training, I was proverbially beaten up,” says Thomas with a laugh. He says he was shocked by how journalists sometimes try to extract information from people. “And that's a good thing, isn't it, to prep for 'the worst case scenario'. It really helped me to have a thicker skin in the studio at BNR.”
body language
In addition, Thomas and Remi focused on tomorrow's story. What do you want to convey and how do you ensure that your story comes across well? The answer may be surprising: body language. Thomas noticed that body language plays a major role in conveying a strong story. “You're showing your cards a little bit with your attitude.” That's why Thomas and Remi practiced with different scenarios during the media training. “In a seated conversation, you're more likely to feel interrogated and move more with your hands. When we went into a standing prep session, it was quite different. Then you move more freely,” says Thomas.
well prepared
How did he ultimately experience the interview? “On the one hand, I thought it was very low-key and a cool, good vibe there. On the other hand, I did not expect it to be such a large editorial board. In that regard, it is important to appear well prepared.” Thomas states that he has a smooth chat, but that preparing for the media training was not an unnecessary luxury.
Do you also want to be prepared for a (radio) interview? During our media training, you will learn the ins and outs of the journalistic landscape so that, like Thomas, you learn to express yourself powerfully. This way, you share your story in your own way and you're always in control. Interested? Feel free to request a quote via the contact form, or give Remi a call yourself!
