The workshop took place in The Hague, at Oxfam Novib's headquarters. The main goal was to become familiar with the basic principles of ChatGPT and to gain insight into the its practical applicability. The workshop attracted a diverse group of participants. They had many different backgrounds and experiences, from content creators, press officers to image editors.
As a result, the workshop started with providing the necessary knowledge. What exactly is ChatGPT? So, how does that work exactly? The participants were included in a number of examples. From those examples, they learned a “How to” method with accompanying tips and tricks.

After absorbing knowledge, the participants were put to work themselves. In pairs, they were allowed to transform a random Oxfam Novib press release into a shorter news article. This, of course, with ChatGPT as a tool.
During the exercises, all kinds of conversations arose, which resulted in an interactive atmosphere. Due to the many questions and comments, it was an educational inspiring afternoon.

The workshop has ensured that Oxfam Novib can familiarise itself with ChatGPT. They now know how to write a good prompt, what to look out for, and how to apply the features to their work. Ideas were even devised to set up a joint account for various purposes.
This project shows that an interactive workshop for AI and communication works incredibly well. This is because the interaction provided an educational, inspiring and enlightening morning.
