#3 Easytoys x Kesbeke

This prank started very early. A few weeks before April 1, posters were hung throughout Amsterdam with the aaahh-gurk; a vibrating pickle. What started as an April 1 prank became a huge success in no time and was even shared several times on social media. In fact, the idea was so well received that the makers announced on April 1 that they would actually bring the product to market. Real innovation or a double April Fool's joke?

#4 Hollow Bolle Gijs with AI

Efteling's splendor, Holle Bolle Gijs, received a technological update this year a few days before National Funny Day. According to the Efteling spokesman, he would henceforth use smart computer-vision technology - a kind of AI - to recognize who is in front of him and what exactly is being thrown away. He would then give personalized advice on healthy choices as well as waste separation; in other words, a trash can that not only thanks you but also educates you. Vision of the future or pure nightmare?

#5 Pathé movies with Subway Surfers

Pathé announced it is capitalizing on the latest viewing trend: movies with an extra screen underneath that continuously plays a Subway Surfers game. This would help compensate for Gen Z's dwindling attention span and make movie theater visits more appealing to young people. Whether it's a clever invention or a worrisome development, we'll leave for now. One thing is certain: the reactions online were very enthusiastic.

#6 Becoming your own closet with Ikea

Protein powder in the taste of Swedish meatballs. The idea is simple: you combine the benefits of a protein shake with the familiar taste of your favorite IKEA meal. The poster asked, "Become your own cupboard?", was a nod to the typical IKEA experience, and it created a lot of confusion as well as curiosity.

#7 Student Metro Amsterdam

A new subway line specifically for VU and UVA students was announced, and it sounds almost too good to be true. Students can check in for free with their student ID, and there are even quiet rooms to study on the ride. But that's not all: energy for the subway is generated by exercise bikes on the subway. So students can literally participate in their own energy supply while traveling to their classes. It seems a clever mix of sustainability and productivity, this may yet be the future of public transportation.

FEBO and SportCity have joined forces and are bringing a snack vending machine full of protein croquettes to gyms. So, after your intense workout, you can pull a croquette right out of the FEBO vending machine. So, you never have to step out of the gym with a hungry stomach again. It may not sound very healthy, but the occasional post-workout snack can't hurt, right?
