The week of April 1, things always start buzzing on social media. Left and right you come across announcements of the most bizarre new products and services. But who really stood out this year? We have compiled a list of the 10 most unique and amusing jokes of this year.

#1 The 'Custom Cats' of Customs Netherlands

On Instagram and LinkedIn, Customs Netherlands announced the hiring of tracking cats. The cats would go to work as "Custom Cats" starting April 1. But why cats? According to the message, cats are more agile and maneuverable than their current comrades; tracking dogs. In addition, an advantage would be their ability to sneak well and thus sneak up on tracking.

#2 Flitsmeister's parking dummy

Also seen on Instagram : Flitsmeister is coming out with a parking dummy for people who want to park briefly. Super handy if you need to run into the supermarket for a moment and don't feel like using the app for a paid parking session. The link in their bio leads interested parties to a form, where they are asked to leave their email address. After which they promise to send an email with more information.

#3 Lucas & Steve for The Efteling

The Efteling is coming out with an update for their iconic attraction Carnival Festival. The music is being taken in hand by none other than DJ duo Lucas & Steve and will become leading for the attraction. The gondolas will have to ride faster to match the new sound and speakers will be installed to ensure that the vibration of the music can be felt.

#4 Everything Is Love & Passion from Albert Heijn

Named after both Everything Is Love (the well-known romcom from 2007). As well as to the love and passion breads the AH sells. On April 1, the first Albert Heijn movie would premiere. Since 2014 supermarket manager Ilse has been the face of the supermarket chain, since then the rest of the family has been added. For example, the "movie poster" also features her husband.

#5 Maxi sizes from Etos

Also from Ahold: Etos. In a Reels video they announce that as of April 1 they will sell their most popular products not in mega, but in maxi sizes. Like an extremely large jar of magnesium citrate or a lipstick of almost 2 meters: 'easy, durable and practical,' they say.

#6 Yamuda from Coolblue

On both TikTok and Instagram, the Coolblue campaign about the sustainable egg passes by. Yamuda seems inspired by, yes, your mother. The AI assistant helps you make more sustainable choices by addressing you with phrases that many a mother (and father) will blurt out. Like "Hey, why don't you put on a sweater?" and "You know what else would be nice? A book.

#7 The fast lane of Dirk supermarkets

Dirk supermarkets is tackling one of their customers' biggest annoyances. Through an Instagram post, they are announcing that they will be implementing a fast lane and a slow lane in their stores. In this way, they hope to make shopping in their supermarkets more efficient for their visitors.

#8 Lubricant from New York Pizza and EasyToys

The collaboration we didn't know we needed. New York Pizza and EasyToys join forces and announce that they are launching a line of new flavors of lubricant.

#9 Lidl's free toilet roll meter

At Lidl's supermarkets you can save for free toilet rolls from now on, according to their Instagram. Following the success of their previous savings system that allows customers to save for free products. When spending 25 euros, you already get 1 roll for free!

#10 Tickets for 14 euros from Walibi

On 1-4, Walibi amusement park is stunting with tickets for only €14. Via TikTok and Instagram, they are announcing that on April 1 at 2 p.m., for one hour, they are selling tickets for only €14 each. A ticket normally costs from €32.50. (Edit: they really made this promise! No joke, but still we fell for it).
